In September, strings of code were discovered indicating that Microsoft might add an AI-based rendering feature called Cocreator to its Paint app. Later that month, Microsoft confirmed that the Cocreator feature using OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 model had been added to the Paint app for Windows Insiders. Now, the new Paint feature has been activated for all users.

The era of AI image creator in Paint

Cocreator, the new integrated text-to-image generator powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 model, was previously only available to Windows Insiders. The new Cocreator button in Paint is now publicly released, giving all users the ability to enter a description of something they imagine and receive three created images to choose from.

While the image maker is a new add-on for Microsoft Paint, the company has already been using DALL-E 3 text-to-image creation in its other services for some time. Microsoft’s Bing Chat (now called Bing Copilot) robot was one of the first applications to access DALL-E 3.

However, to use Cocreator in Paint, open Microsoft Paint and select the Cocreator icon in the toolbar to see the Cocreator side panel. In the text box, enter a description of the image you want to create. After entering the text, choose the style you want to create your image in, and then select the Create button. Cocreator will create three different variants of the image you request. It is also possible to transfer the image you choose to the Paint canvas.

Additionally, you must have a Microsoft account to use the Cocreator feature in Paint. Additionally, you are given 50 credits when you activate the feature, and each credit is used to create an image in Cocreator. It is necessary to wait to create an image after the credit ends. This feature, which currently only supports the English language, is currently available in the USA, France, UK, Australia, Canada, Italy and Germany. These restrictions will also be lifted soon.
