Renault announced the application of factory second-hand cars and parts a few years ago. This practice officially started last summer. Today, it was announced that such a step would come from another automobile giant.
According to journalist Emre Özpeynirci, Stellantis, which has 14 brands including Opel, Peugeot, Citroen, Jeep and Alfa Romeo, is starting the second-hand vehicle and parts period from the factory.
An investment of 40 million euros will be made and affordable and sustainable part alternatives will be offered.
According to Özpeynirci’s news, Stellantis Group will transform the Mirafori facility in Turin, Italy, into a circular economy center under the name SUSTAINera. The company will invest 40 million euros here.
It is said that things such as reproduction, repair, reuse and recycling will be carried out in the facility. To elaborate further, according to the news, used, worn or defective components such as motors and batteries will be dismantled, cleaned and remanufactured here.
Wanting to produce an affordable and sustainable alternative, the automobile giant plans to offer over 50 thousand such parts by 2025 and over 150 thousand by 2030. It is also reported that 2.5 million worn parts will be supplied in this center in 2025 and 8 million in 2030.
Remanufactured vehicles will enter the market through the second-hand vehicle program
In addition, according to Özpeynirci, Stellantis will also renew its vehicles at its facility in Turin. Vehicles that are remanufactured or repaired with used parts will be put on the market through the second-hand program. Companies within Stellantis will also be able to sell these vehicles.
