We often come across media such as Instagram and TikTok that diet and similar health issues have been discussed recently. Many “so-called” dietitians sell “diet programs” to people by sharing their own eating and drinking habits and make a living in this way, but many of them are ordinary social media users who do not have any valid qualifications.

On the other hand, another similar sharing spiral that we see frequently on such platforms consists of content that encourages eating and drinking disorders. In the face of the recent increase in this type of content, experts felt the need to warn people about both issues.

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco. Jason Nagata treats teenagers hospitalized for eating disorders. Stating that even while lying in hospital beds, many of the patients still continue to produce content on diet and weight loss and share them with people on social media, Dr. “People with eating disorders can be trapped in a vicious cycle of content related to disordered eating and weight loss,” says Jason Nagata. In such cases, he advises hospital staff to disconnect the patient from social media in order to help patients recover.

While this type of sharing puts the health of the followers at risk, it is once again brought to the agenda that the urge to make money on social media can cause psychological problems for people. So, what do you think about this? We welcome your comments below.
