One of the companies participating in the ongoing artificial intelligence race in the technology world was Discord. The voice chat and messaging platform, which is especially popular among gamers, announced that it would bring a series of artificial intelligence features in March. One of these was a chatbot powered by ChatGPT named “Clyde”.

Designed to answer and assist users’ questions like other chatbots, Clyde has been tested since its introduction. However, a statement made today showed that the chatbot will be pulled before it becomes widely available.

It is unknown why Clyde, which will be disabled after December 1, was abandoned.

According to Discord’s statement, the Clyde chat bot will be disabled on December 1, 2023. As of this date, no user will be able to access the bot anymore. Let us reiterate that Clyde is an “experimental” bot and has only been tested on a limited number of users so far.

It is possible to say that this decision was unexpected. The platform announced on the day it was introduced that they planned for the bot to become a very important part of the conversations and communities on Discord.

It is not clear why such a decision was suddenly made. Perhaps we’ll see Clyde return as an exclusive to paid subscription Nitro in the future. Or the company may have found in testing that Clyde was a service that was not essential to the platform. But these are just guesses. The company did not share the reasoning behind abandoning Clyde.
