Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs are set to launch in 2024 for high-end PC gamers and entry-level workstation users.
Back in July, we saw estimates showing the performance gains of Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs over the 13th generation Raptor Lake-S desktop processors. According to these estimates, there was a 2% increase in performance per clock (IPC) in single-core and 14% in multi-core. Although the optimizations made since then have increased performance, it seems that no significant gains have been achieved.
5% gain in single core, 15% gain in multi-core
A slide image leaked from Anandtech forums reveals the performance of Arrow Lake-S processors. According to the slide, there is a 5% performance increase per clock in single-core and 15% in multi-core. It is also stated that the new processors have 50% more L2 cache. Considering that the processor is about a year away from release, it is likely that there will be some more performance increase.
In addition to Arrow Lake-S processors, graphics cards with the new Battlemage1 architecture are also mentioned. These cards will be positioned in the high-end player segment.
It will have a 24-core structure
Arrow Lake-S desktop processors will come with various core configurations, but the most prominent one right now is the design with 8 performance and 16 efficiency cores. This 24-core design has the same number of cores as the 13th and 14th generation processors. According to previous leaks, the new processor family will include 3 types of membranes:
- Arrow Lake-S 24 (8P + 16E) / 4 Xe cores / 125W TDP
- Arrow Lake-S 24 (8P + 16E) / 4 Xe cores / 65W TDP
- Arrow Lake-S 24 (8P + 16E) / 4 Xe cores / 35W TDP
What are the features of the new processors?
Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop processors will come with new generation LGA 1851 socket 800 series motherboards and their features will be as follows:
- LGA 1851 socket will be supported until 2026
- There will be no DDR4 support, only DDR5
- Will launch with 800 series motherboards
- DDR5-6400 memory support
- 3 MB L2 cache per P-Core
- Refurbished Alchemist integrated GPUs
- 8+16, 8+0, 6+8 core alignment
- Intel 20A manufacturing process
Arrow Lake-S desktop processors will be released in the second half of 2024.
