One of the many reasons the Switch has been so successful for Nintendo has been its steady output of quality first-party games since its launch in 2017. These exclusive games are made even more vital by the fact that the Switch is significantly underpowered compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X. This means many third-party games are skipping the Switch. However, according to a reliable source, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be powerful enough to run many games that will also be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Tom Henderson, owner of Insider Gaming, who leaked the PlayStation Portal months before it was announced, shared some exciting news about the next generation console for Nintendo fans from his X account over the weekend.
Really excited for the Nintendo Switch 2 and its tech.
We'll see "Launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC" a heck of a lot in 12-18 months.

With this post, the source seems to imply that the performance of Switch 2 will be closer to the performance of other current generation game consoles rather than the Switch. While recent third-party games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Lies of P, Armored Core 6, Street Fighter 6, and Diablo 4 are too demanding for the Switch hardware, the Switch 2 can run them.
Considering how popular the Switch is despite its shortcomings, adding a collection of great third-party games to the library would be a huge win for the Switch 2. At least we don’t want to see another disastrous port like Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch…
