Headlines in news shared on X started to be removed

If you follow posts on X, especially news and media feeds, they may look quite different now. The social media platform formerly known as Twitter has begun removing titles and descriptions from published links, rolling out the change that has been reported for several months.

Last August, X’s owner Elon Musk said that the idea came directly from him and that it would greatly improve the aesthetics of the platform. On the other hand, at least as of the moment this article was written, we could not confirm in our investigations that the relevant title was removed from the links/news shared on X. However, some iOS users are reporting that the change has been implemented.

However, it was reported in the past that advertisers did not like the new format, but it seems clear that the change has been put into effect. The main reason for X’s format change is to make posts look more compact by fitting more posts into the visible part of the timeline. Additionally, Musk thinks this will help reduce instances of headline-based clickbait.

While Musk publicly claims that the website’s aesthetics were the primary driver of the format change, it’s no secret that he’s trying to encourage more people to publish long-form articles directly on X. Therefore, Musk does not want people or media outlets to share his news with just links. It also asks for more context to read into the relevant post.
