AMD and Samsung partnership may end
In April, the two companies announced that they planned to continue working to deliver high-quality graphics on more smartphones. However, a new rumor suggests that Samsung may be on the verge of ending its partnership with AMD. Rumor has it that Samsung’s System LSI team is considering developing mobile GPUs in-house rather than continuing to rely on AMD. We should also point out that the System LSI unit is the department responsible for producing Exynos chips.
If the leak is true, it means future Exynos processors could feature Samsung GPU instead of AMD architecture. But for now, the Exynos 2400, which is expected to be released next year, is said to use an improved AMD-based GPU that offers twice the graphics performance. However, the long-term outlook for the Samsung-AMD partnership remains unclear for now. On the other hand, according to leaks, Samsung plans to use the Exynos 2400 processor in Asia, Africa and Europe, while the Canada, China and USA variants of the Galaxy S24 series will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
