Ovshinsky establishes his first large company

Ovshinsky founded the Energy Conversion Laboratory (ECL) in 1960. Ovshinsky, who patented the writable cd/dvd during this period, changed the name of ECL to Energy Conversion Devices (ECD) in 1964.
