Recently, Twitter announced its new policy, which considers the consent of the person in the photo when sharing photos of others and helps to remove the photo in question at the request of that person. Explaining that it is more sensitive about complaints and notifications with this regulation, Twitter has recently reached findings that the complaints are made unfounded and malicious.
According to Twitter’s statements, users in mass made it possible for users with different opinions to be punished with a complaint attack. Although this is something that can be done by different people, the most prominent segment lately was the far-right and racist groups that attacked people with opposing and neutral views.
Some groups worried about accounts reporting ‘opposite or different views’
Twitter recently announced that it has “deactivated the accounts of many users with this error”. After updating its privacy and security principles, the platform, which was a little more sensitive and attentive to complaints, noticed that the extreme rightists and “white supremacists” were complaining to users who were against extreme ideas.
These users were commanding their followers to bombard users who could be described as libertarian with complaints. Twitter’s new policies were no barrier to posting photos of important figures on public issues. However, right-wing extremist groups took advantage of this and attacked many accounts right after the policy was updated. Realizing this, Twitter stated that it realized the mistakes and that the wrong punishments were withdrawn.
