Companies all over the world are trying to find ways to use artificial intelligence. The latest company to join the trend is Coca-Cola, which has introduced a new AI-generated drink flavor called Y3000, and reportedly it tastes as bad as you’d expect from an AI-generated drink.

We haven’t had a chance to try the Y3000 in person, so we’ll have to trust what’s being said about it for now. Coca-Cola is marketing its new AI-generated Y3000 as “Futurist Flavored.” In fact, this name means the Year 3000. But as Gizmodo tells us, this future is not a pleasant one.

The taste of Y3000 is described as flat and vague, and is said to fade away quickly after a brief burst of flavor, leaving a taste of sugar and fruit on your palate. It turns out that Y3000 doesn’t taste much like the Coke that so many people have known and loved for decades.

But while some new cola flavors are too sweet or too strong, Y3000 just tastes bland, people say. Instead of offering an exciting or overwhelming taste that makes you look forward to the future with hope, the cola flavor produced by artificial intelligence is completely weak. Also, according to Gizmodo, the taste doesn’t change much when you try it iced.

Of course, it’s no surprise that Coca-Cola’s AI-generated cola flavor has such a flat taste. ChatGPT and other productive AIs still struggle to create consistent recipes for food and drinks. We can easily say that the bar is quite low in the field of AI-based recipes.

However, it is not enough for Coca-Cola to just release a new cola flavor. The company has also launched an AR experience that you can try by scanning the QR code on the Y3000 bottles. This experience offers some AI-generated photos of what the year 3000 might look like. Considering how inaccurately the future movies and television we’ve seen in the past have made predictions, it’s probably best not to take these photos too seriously.
