READING NOW The long-awaited feature for Google Photos has finally arrived!

Both Android and iOS users can request some private photos and videos on their smartphones to be unlocked with a password. This innovation, which was previously exclusive to Pixel phones for Google Photos, will now be used for other Android users as well. Google also shared the date for iOS.

Google Photos can now be used with a password

Although it seems like a very basic feature to be able to lock photos and videos with a security method, Google Photos did not have this feature until June of this year. The feature, which was offered exclusively to Google Pixel devices in the first place, has gradually started to be made available to other Android users.

According to the news from Android forums, the locked folders feature has started to appear on many smartphones. These smartphones stand out as Samsung, OPPO and OnePlus in the first place. However, apart from these three devices, there are users who get the new feature by getting the Google Photos update. The screen lock of the device must be used to open the photos and videos thrown into locked folders.

Users who move their photos or videos to locked folders will not be able to back up their files to Google’s cloud servers. If you have backed up these photos or videos to the cloud before, Google will remove these files from the cloud system and make them accessible only from your device. On the other hand, the applications that you have previously installed on your device and granted access to your media are no longer able to access these files.

However, Google shared another important information: According to this, if you remove the Google Photos application or clear the application data, you will not be able to access any photos or videos that you previously put in locked folders.

This new feature, which has started to be offered to Android users, will also be available to iOS users before the end of 2021. So what do you think about the new feature? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section.
