The lawyer of the founder of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, asked for the release of the defendant once again. The lawyer representing the sensational name of the crypto industry requested temporary release for Bankman-Fried to be ready for the next hearing.
In this case, FTX founder is defended by lawyer Mark Cohen. Cohen formally submitted his request for release to trial judge Lewis Kaplan. According to the official document, the lawyer explained his request with the following sentence:
“Due to the current restrictions, it does not seem possible for my client to be adequately prepared for the next hearing.”
Cohen emphasized that the ongoing process regarding the FTX founder is quite complex. The lawyer stated that what Bankman-Fried knew could not be conveyed verbatim by third parties. According to the information reported in the press, the boss of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange has 50 different witnesses.
SBF’s lawyer requested that he temporarily reside in New York under protection if his requests were accepted. According to the information reflected in the document, Bankman-Fried also accepts the ban on speaking to anyone except her family and lawyers.
A similar application had recently emerged for the boss of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange. Case judge Lewis Kaplan rejected this request. The first criminal hearing for Sam Bankman-Fried, who collapsed the FTX exchange and victimized millions of customers, will be on October 3, 2023. SBF faces seven criminal charges.
