Delays started in TSMC
For those who don’t know, TSMC includes the latest 3nm fabrication process in the Apple A17 Pro, which is currently available in the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro. But long before that, we started to hear the footsteps of 2nm. So much so that it was stated that the giant manufacturer would switch to Gate-all-around (GAA) technology with the aim of better performance and efficiency than the currently used FinFET transistors. However, this transition may take much longer than anticipated.
If the new claims are confirmed, we can say that the competition between Samsung Foundry, Intel and TSMC will become even more intense. Niketim Intel plans to announce Power Via technology next year and switch to the 18A (1.8nm) process in 2025. Samsung, which has a similar timeline, will switch to 2nm production in 2025 and 1.4 nm production in 2027.
