The release date for Steam Deck, which was announced by Valve, the legendary producer of Half Life, last July, is getting closer and closer. The box design and protective cover of the console, which was delayed once and will finally be released in February of 2022, has emerged.

Steam Deck will rival Nintendo Switch

Steam Deck, which was announced last July and expected to be released in December of 2021, was suspended in February of 2022 with the statement made by Valve. The device, which will be released by Valve as a competitor to Nintendo Switch, aims to support most games on Steam from the first day.

The device, which draws attention with its 7-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and a screen refresh rate of 60 Hz, has now appeared in the box design. As you can see from the image, Valve has packaged the products in a very simple design. Apart from the charging adapter, console and cable, a case with a minimal design comes out of the box. Valve also confirmed that the consoles in the shared image are 64GB and 256GB models.

Things to know about Steam Deck:

  • The device is currently available for pre-order with a $400 tag.
  • Steam Deck will have 64GB of eMMC storage and extra money will be asked for extra storage.
  • The device will not have mobile data capacity such as 5G or LTE.
  • The device will first be introduced in the Japanese market with an aggressive marketing strategy.
  • Steam’s handheld console will have a 45W power adapter and can be connected to a 4K monitor.
  • The device has a battery life of approximately 4-6 hours at medium brightness.
  • Valve stated that 1GB of GPU memory is reserved for the console, but hardware changes may be made in the future.
