Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 contains two speakers, one positioned at the bottom of the device and the other at the top. If you want to use the device with headphones, you can use USB Type-C or Bluetooth connection options. However, the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack is unfortunately not available on this phone.
Sound reproduction quality
Experts rated the sound reproduction quality as “good” and stated that the speakers deliver pleasant sound. However, the positions of the speakers do not seem to be optimized enough to fully spread the sound into the environment.
We should point out that the phone offers satisfactory sound quality at medium and low frequencies as well as at high frequencies. DxOMark officials say that the stereo stage can be wider when using the device unfolded.
In terms of maximum volume, the phone surpasses most Galaxy series devices. However, when using these levels, you may sometimes hear unwanted sound distortions at high frequencies. While the Galaxy Z Fold 5 offers the best sound quality when playing games and listening to music, it performs slightly lower when watching movies.
Voice recording performance
The device’s audio recording performance was rated “great” overall. The microphone has a nice tone, provides accurate audio scaling and virtually no audio distortion. Poor protection against wind noise was cited as a disadvantage.
According to DxOMark test results, the phone achieved 133 points and ranked 39th in the world rankings, one place ahead of the base Galaxy S23. In the price category, Galaxy Z5 Fold is 26th on the list.
