The spread of electric cars also causes the number of charging stations to increase. Shell, one of the first companies that come to mind when it comes to fuel, is also making moves in this regard. The giant company has now opened a brand new charging station in China.
The station was opened in the city of Shenzhen in partnership with Chinese electric car giant BYD and Shell. The most striking part of the high-power charging (HPC) station is that it is the largest in its field in the world.
Powered by solar panels, the station has 258 fast charging points.
The new station, opened in Shenzhen and operating under the Shell Recharge brand, hosts 258 fast charging points. The company says that during testing, the facility powered 3,300 electric vehicles daily. In addition, areas such as markets and cafes are also located in the giant facility.
We should also point out that the new facility, developed in partnership with two giant companies, is powered by solar panels. The panels located above the charging points can produce 300 thousand kWh of renewable electricity annually, which will be used to charge customers’ vehicles.
Shell and BYD collaborated on charging infrastructure in March 2022. It was announced that within the scope of the partnership, charging moves would be made all over the world, especially in Europe and China. Let us add that the joint venture currently provides service with 13 thousand charging points in China.
