We know that the US technology giant Apple has been developing electric cars for a while. Although the company does not make official statements about the design and features of the vehicle, we often hear about developments such as project designs, features and release date shared by various companies.
It is known that Apple tests autonomous vehicles on US roads and employs thousands of software developers for the Titan project. The company will soon launch a product with the Titan project. While it was thought that this product would be an electric car until very recently, a broadcast by Apple’s podcast publisher recently left a question mark on the possibility of the project not being a car.
In his broadcast with journalist Jim Dalrymple, Apple’s podcaster, John Gruber, stated that there are two possibilities for Apple to be working on the production of an autonomous vehicle in the automotive industry or the formation and licensing of a vehicle platform.
Possibility One: Operating System, carOS
During the publication, it was suggested that Apple’s aim may be to develop a software, that is, a kind of carOS, only for autonomous vehicles, and then license it to different manufacturers. However, it was stated that it would be surprising if Apple was really only going to be a software manufacturer. Because, according to Gruger, Apple has had bad experiences with operating systems so far.
Although this does not sound very convincing, there are also question marks in the second possibility that Apple will produce its highly professional and expensive tools.
Second Possibility: Electric Car, iCar
It is known that the cars of the future are autonomous vehicles with self-driving features that are used as a kind of robot taxi. In the podcast broadcast, it was stated that the car that Apple will produce with this feature is contrary to their sales strategy, and customers will want to prefer products that will have power. It has also been claimed that Apple will not produce such a product, more importantly than the preferences of the customers, because the risk of product liability in autonomous driving is high.
As a result, publishers John Gruber and Jim Dalrymple are unsure of what Apple will bring to the market.
