The iOS 17 operating system, which Apple made available to the general public yesterday, includes many changes and improvements. However, the battery of older iPhone models on which the update was installed started to drain more quickly. Many users complain about decreasing battery life of their devices.
In a study conducted for five different iPhone models, including iPhone SE 2, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, the effects of the iOS 17 update on battery life were tested. The results of the review by iAppleBytes are troubling.
Don’t rush to upgrade
After the test, it was concluded that the battery life of all these older models was reduced. While there is a significant decrease in the battery life of the iPhone 13 and iPhone XR models, the battery life of the iPhone XR has experienced a record decline since the iOS 14 version.
Experts also presented a chart showing battery life on different iOS versions starting from iOS 15, revealing that devices lasted longer on iOS 16.6.1 and 16.7. Those who do not want to charge their smartphone more often are advised not to switch to iOS 17 by staying on these versions for now.
