France, one of the most important and touristic countries in Europe, is entering a difficult period. The country will go to the polls for the presidential election on April 10, 2022. The current President, Emmanuel Macron, officially announced his candidacy on November 16. In addition, right-wing Marine Le Pen, who entered the race in 2017, is among the candidates. However, among these names, the ‘far-right’ Eric Zemmour is the most prominent candidate.

Zemmour, the far-right; It is known for its ultra-conservative politics, nationalism, anti-Islam and immigration, and nation-state mentality. Born in Paris in 1958 to a Jewish family of Algerian descent, Zemmour had risen rapidly in the polls even before he had yet announced his candidacy in the elections. He was also fined in the past for his hostile remarks towards Muslims. Now, YouTube has restricted access to Zemmour’s nomination video.

Banned for under 18s:

According to a report by the French broadcasting channel BFMTV, the age limit was imposed on the YouTube video where Zemmour announced his candidacy. In a statement made by the spokesperson of YouTube in France, the following words were included: “Under the YouTube rules, a limit is imposed on images with violent content. If a shared video is not suitable for every user, we pay attention to age restrictions. ”

In the video, which conveys in the language of propaganda that the past glory of the country is left behind and is corrupted, images of violence and chaos are also shown as examples of this “corruption”. In the elections to be held on April 10 in France, if any candidate does not win the majority, the president of the country will be elected in the second round to be held on April 24.
