Armies are being renewed with the latest versions of technology, turning into a technology fair. The US has collaborated with Microsoft to equip its military with the latest technology. Microsoft’s AR glasses will now be included in the US Army’s inventory. The USA placed a large order from Microsoft to provide navigation and live information streaming support to its army. Thereupon, at the end of July, Microsoft sent 20 prototype glasses. In addition, the design of the glasses was appreciated by the soldiers.

Microsoft’s AR glasses are at the disposal of the US Army!

Last year, Microsoft took action to develop HoloLens-like mixed reality glasses, which it calls Integrated Vision Augmentation System (IVAS). He also carried out this study together with the US Army. Thanks to these glasses, it will provide soldiers with live information about navigation and commands. At the same time, thermal and night vision features will also be useful to the army.

The device called Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) will change the game. It will allow soldiers to see through smoke and around corners. It uses holographic images for training. Additionally, with a single click, 3D terrain maps projected into the field of view are displayed in front of you. Thus, it becomes easier to gain superiority over enemy forces.

According to reports from early 2022, there is negative feedback for Microsoft’s AR glasses. Despite all this technological equipment, soldiers could not use these glasses for a long time. Because glasses caused headaches, nausea and eye fatigue in soldiers. However, this problem was completely solved in the glasses sent for trial in July.

US military spokesman David Patterson said the new glasses are now available in version 1.2. Microsoft took into consideration soldiers’ demands for AR glasses. Thus, he improved the new batch he sent in terms of reliability, low-light sensor performance and display size. It looks like the cooperation between the US Army and Microsoft will continue. The Army signed another contract with Microsoft for a new system on September 5.
