Apple held the Wonderlust event that the whole world has been waiting for today. At the event, the first USB-C iPhone 15 models and new Apple Watch devices were introduced to us. While everyone’s eyes were on this event, a move towards Apple products came from France.
French regulators announced the sales of the iPhone 12 model, which Apple launched in 2020, in the country. The statement made to Le Parisien newspaper came from Jean-Noel Barrot, the country’s minister responsible for the digital economy.
The decision was taken due to high radiation
According to Barrot’s statement, the decision was made because the iPhone 12s emit too much radiation. It was reported that France’s ANFR regulator, which carries out radiation observations, determined that the phone had a SAR value higher than the legal limit.
French authorities say that the radiation problem associated with the phone, which has been on sale since 2020, can be solved with a software update. Stating that they are waiting for a response from the company, Barrot uses the following statements in his statement:
“Apple is expected to respond within two weeks. If they don’t, I’m prepared to order a recall of all iPhone 12s in circulation. “The rule is the same for everyone, including tech giants.”
There was no response from Apple regarding the issue. France says it will send its findings to other EU countries.
It is possible to say that the radiation issue is worrying. Due to high prices, old iPhone devices were frequently preferred in our country. We will see in the future whether similar decisions will be made in other countries and what Apple will do about this problem.
