Ubisoft is a company that always likes to enter new areas in addition to its existing concepts. In this context, the developer has developed a new first-person multiplayer shooter game that will rival Call of Duty. Bad news came from the free-to-play game called XDefiant.

XDefiant release date postponed

XDefiant’s producer, Mark Rubin, opened the curtain on what goes into the process of releasing a game and explained exactly where XDefiant is in this process.

The blog goes into some detail about the application process required for games to be available on platforms such as PlayStation or Xbox, and explains how the game’s release process can be a painful process.

Simply put, developers need to send a copy of their game to parties like Xbox and Sony so their teams can check if the game works properly in terms of platform.

Once a game gets the green light from this process, it usually takes a week or two before it’s ready for release. While XDefiant went through this process in late July, it initially failed to pass compatibility.

Now Ubisoft is ready to ship the game again, leaving two possible outcomes. If the game goes off without a hitch, XDefiant could be released in mid or late September.

But it’s also possible that it will receive a conditional pass, meaning that XDefiant will only be allowed to release if it comes with a day-one patch to clean up any remaining issues. If such a situation occurs, the game’s release will be postponed to early or mid-October.

Rubin explains that most games leave plenty of wiggle room to allow for this process when deciding on a release date, but he didn’t want to go that route with XDefiant. rubin,

“Like so many things in this game, we didn’t take the typical route. So our real answer to the question of when we will release it is ‘as soon as we can’. “And we will continue to update you with more information as it becomes available.”

XDefiant is an upcoming free-to-play fast-paced deathmatch-based game that features some of Ubisoft’s existing game series in the form of factions.

The game is being developed by executive producer Mark Rubin, known for his previous work on the CoD series. XDefiant will be released for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 and will offer cross-platform support.
