Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin’s X account was compromised last night. Hackers promoting an NFT project quickly raised half a million dollars. Binance CEO CZ says that the new platform should have more security measures.
Binance CEO spoke about the hacked Ethereum founder
As reported by Kriptokoin.com, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin’s X account suddenly advertised a Poroto-danksharding themed collection last night. The tweet, which remained active for about 15 minutes, raised funds from some Ethereum co-founders. According to reports, $691,000 was sent to the wallet during the process.
Binance CEO also gave his advice to the crypto community and social media platforms after the hacking incident. According to CZ, all users, even experts, should be cautious against such hacking attempts. CZ also shares some of the problems he experienced in the pre-Elon Musk period:
Vitalik’s Twitter account was hacked. Even if you are an expert, use common sense when reading content on social media. Twitter’s account security is not designed as financial platforms. It needs some more features: 2FA, login ID must be different from handle or email, etc.
My Twitter account has been locked several times in the past due to hackers trying to brute force (trying different passwords over and over). This was before the “Elon Musk era”.
