Stellantis took an important step for electric car batteries. The company, which includes important automobile brands such as Fiat and Ferrari, is seeking to reduce battery sizes. In this sense, Italians have pushed the button for long-range small electric cars.

Judging by the statement made by Stellanis, the Italian company plans to reduce the size of batteries by fifty percent. Accordingly, the company’s goal is to achieve this goal by 2030.

The company previously made a major investment in Lyten, which has an important place in lithium-sulfur battery technology. According to the new information, Stellanis has started to reap the fruits of this investment.

Accordingly, the newly developed prototype eliminates the need for electrical conversion modules. Accordingly, the new battery technology saves interior space by combining the functions of the electric charger and the inverter in lithium-ion battery modules. Thus, electric car batteries will be both smaller and lighter.

The main goal here is to make a difference in the small-sized and affordable electric car market, where China is influential. Stellanis is experienced in producing small-sized and affordable cars, especially under the Fiat brand.

In this sense, it was among the expectations that the company would compete with Chinese electric car manufacturers in this field. It is important for the future of the European car market that Stellanis produces its own electric car battery. However, the fact that these new batteries will appear in 2030 is one of the question marks. Every year, a new breakthrough emerges, especially in the field of electric car batteries.

However, affordable and long-range electric cars can change the entire market. Of course, we should not forget that there is neither the car nor the battery. Stellanis announced last year that it would produce fully electric cars in 2027. According to this target, it seems that the year 2030 will not be brought forward.

In electric car technology, both battery life and charging speed are of great importance. It is also expected that these batteries, which have decreased in size, will also be fast charged. However, the company did not share any information on this issue as it was seven years apart.

So, do you think European manufacturers have fallen behind the electric car revolution? We are waiting your comments.
