Starfield is on track to become Bethesda’s best game after Skyrim. Although the majority of the criticisms were positive, many PC users stated that the game had optimization problems. Bethesda boss Todd Howard gave an answer that angered players when this situation was directed at him in an interview.

“Starfield has no optimization problems, boost your computers”

Bethesda boss Todd Howard and Xbox boss Phil Spencer went on an interview tour following Starfield’s debut, and as part of that, the duo gave an interview to Bloomberg Technology.

While the questions had a more general business focus and went into topics like Game Pass and The Elder Scrolls 6, the show took an interesting turn when the reporter asked Howard a rather frank audience question: “Why didn’t you optimize this game for PC?”

While Phil Spencer couldn’t suppress his chuckle, Howard continued: “Oh… we actually optimized it. It works great. This is a next generation PC game, we are really pushing technology so you may need to upgrade your computer for this game. “There’s a lot of great stuff in the game and the fans are giving great feedback.”

Starfield is, of course, a real Bethesda game. The studio’s top officials have been opposed to the idea that it’s been sending erroneous or poorly optimized games lately, but there’s a reason for its reputation.

Of course, in Starfield’s early days, players enjoyed many of the weirder aspects of the space lifestyle, including crew members boarding ships outside of deep space and war-cut persuasion mini-games.

There will of course be mistakes. However, we don’t know if “upgrade your computer” is the answer in such a situation. Because, according to the feedback from the players, there are areas that are difficult to achieve 60 FPS at minimum settings, even in systems with RTX 3080.
