ARGON 600, an unmanned underwater vehicle developed by Anadolu Robotik, was exhibited at IDEF’23. ARGON 600 will be used in search and rescue and reconnaissance missions.

We visited the Anadolu Robotics stand at IDEF’23, the world’s fourth largest defense industry fair. Anadolu Robotics Financial Affairs Manager Mehmet Akif Kurt explained the unmanned underwater vehicle ARGON 600 to Cem Sünbül.

Can dive to a depth of 600 meters

Anadolu Robotics develops unmanned underwater and surface vehicles. While ARGON 300 can go down to a depth of 300 meters, the larger ARGON 600 can go down to a depth of 600 meters.

ARGON 600 is used for deep sea search and rescue and exploration activities. The bottom of the sea will be clearly displayed even in difficult conditions, without putting divers at risk.

Thanks to its dual camera with true color technology, it transmits images to the ground control station with 1080p resolution and a 180-degree wide viewing angle. In muddy and turbid waters, it can map the environment with sonar technology and detect objects in the sea.

The vehicle, which is guided by 8 pushers, has the features of moving 360 degrees and fixing its stance position. ARGON 600 is controlled manually and semi-autonomously. It reaches the target coordinate with the help of artificial intelligence.

ARGON 600 can be used with battery or cable. Thanks to the cable, it works without any usage time limit. When using battery, cruising time is between 4 and 10 hours.

AFAD tested

Anadolu Robotics Financial Affairs Manager Mehmet Akif Kurt emphasized that discussions were held to use ARGON 600 in missions and said, “Demo tests with AFAD have been completed. We are at the acceptance stage. We are meeting with Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) and our Naval Forces.” said.

In which sectors will ARGON 600 be used?

  • search and rescue,
  • Fish farm cleaning and controls
  • Underwater pipe and cable laying and controls
  • Underwater construction and maintenance/repair
  • Underwater sample collection,
  • environmental research,
  • Hydroelectric and nuclear power plants,
  • Dam covers and levees inspections,
  • Underwater mapping and verification,
  • Autonomous or manual operations can be performed in various sectors such as documentary shooting.
