Technology giant Apple announced the winners of the third Apple Music Awards competition this year. Selecting the best artists of 2021, Apple distributed awards in five different categories in total. These categories were Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Song of the Year, and Best Track of the Year.
However, Apple added a new category for the first time this year. Within the scope of this category, named as Regional Artist of the Year, awards were given to artists from five different countries and regions. These countries and regions were Africa, France, Germany, Japan and Russia. Let’s take a look at this year’s Apple Music Awards winners.

Global Artist of the Year: The Weeknd
The successful artist, who has become one of the leading names in popular music and culture, was named the best artist of this year. In his statement, The Weeknd thanked Apple for its support both to him and to other artists.
Breakthrough Artist of the Year + Best Album of the Year + Best Song of the Year: Olivia Rodrigo
The name that left its mark on this year’s awards was Olivia Rodrigo. The 18-year-old successful artist won the Best Album of the Year with the album “SOUR”, the Best Song of the Year with the song “drivers license” and the Best Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
Songwriter of the Year: H. E. R.
H. E. R., who has become one of the most recognizable names in the R&B genre, said in a statement: “As a young black and Filipino artist and a woman who gives her all on the stage, there is no doubt that representation is important. ” and thanked Apple.
