The first application to bring support to Google’s new Ultra HDR format: Google Photos
The first application to bring support for Google’s new Ultra HDR format was Google Photos. With this new format, it will display SDR images on non-HDR displays, but the colors and contrast will be revealed when viewed on an HDR-enabled panel.
This new feature of Google Photos, which allows you to display your photos in excellent quality while preserving the JPEG format, emerged thanks to AssembleDebug’s sharing. AssembleDebug displayed several strings pointing to Ultra HDR support in the 6.51.0.561138754 version of the application, thus revealing that other third-party applications can benefit from this feature with Android 14.
