X (formerly Twitter), led by Elon Musk, announced that it will expand the scope of data it collects from users. The social media giant has announced these changes by updating its privacy policies.

According to the change, “biometric information” will be added to the data X collects from its users. In its statement, the company uses the following statements on this subject: “With your permission, we may collect and use your biometric information for security, privacy and identification purposes.

Apart from biometric data, information such as your work history will also be collected.

X did not reveal any details about biometric information. So it doesn’t say what information it will collect. But we do know that this type of information often includes things like fingerprints, eye and facial features.

Also, one of the purposes for using biometric data might be to bring passwordless login. Previously revealed information revealed that fingerprint, facial recognition or PIN can be used to log in to the X account. Biometric data can be useful for the use of these methods.

The changes made regarding data collection are not limited to this. The platform also says it will collect data such as job and educational history, skills, abilities, job search activity. This is due to the development of a job search feature that will most likely rival LinkedIn. X recently rolled out the beta version of the feature.

The platform will put into effect the changes regarding the data it collects from September 29.
