Ahead of the IFA 2023 conference, TCL announced the TCL 40 NXTPAPER and TCL 40 NXTPAPER 5G, the world’s first smartphones with paper-like displays. The phones, which were exposed to great interest by users, won the appreciation of many of them. So much so that these phones are interesting as well as contain materials aimed at minimizing the damage to eye health.

TCL 40 NXTPAPER is a first in the smartphone market!

The company’s new NXTPAPER smartphones are TUV hardware certified for low harmful blue light. This makes these phones highly enjoyable for avid readers, thanks to a comfortable, full-colour, paper-like viewing experience. Needless to say, no compromises are made on displayed color as NXTPAPER technology maintains the original color balance.

In addition, both TCL smartphones offer anti-glare functionality, producing a paper-like matte effect texture. Equally important is that TCL’s NXTPAPER phones are fingerprint-proof. Because most of today’s smartphones are dominated by this fingerprint scourge.

TCL also announced that the full-color electronic display comes with a custom-designed NXTPAPER user interface that gives users the option to choose between a full-color manga or black-and-white experience.

In terms of hardware, phones are quite different. For example, the TCL 40 NXTPAPER has a 6.6-inch HD+ screen and the 5G version, unlike its smaller sibling, has a 6.78-inch wide FHD+ screen. Also, the TCL 40 NXTPAPER has a triple camera of 50 megapixels (50MP + 5MP + 2MP) and a front camera of 32 megapixels, while the TCL 40 NXTPAPER 5G has a triple camera (50MP + 2MP + 2MP) and a secondary 8 megapixel front camera.

If we look at the internal hardware of the phones, we see MediaTek Helio G88 processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage in the 4G model. On the other hand, the 5G model is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. Both phones are powered by a 5,000mAh battery, but the 4G model supports 33W wired charging, while the 5G version only supports 15W charging.

In terms of pricing, it was announced that the 4G model will be available in September with a price of € 200, while the 5G version will be available in October at a price of € 250. For now, it has been confirmed that these phones are only available in Europe.
