The smartphone industry has perhaps the toughest competition in the technology world. The volume of the industry, which is estimated to have 3.5 billion smartphone users, is approaching 1 trillion dollars. As such, producers are almost competing with each other to get a share of the pie.

iPhone 14 Pro Max became the best-selling smartphone in the first half of 2023

Omdia has published a report on the state of the smartphone world in the first half of 2023. In the list of best-selling phones, Apple has an obvious advantage. Accordingly, the iPhone 14 Pro Max took the lead by selling 26.5 million units.

Models from the same series are in the second and third rows. While iPhone 14 Pro takes the second place with 21 million, the standard model of the series, iPhone 14, takes the third place with 16.5 million. In the sequel, the iPhone 13, which was in Apple’s previous series, found its place.

Apple products are followed by the Samsung Galaxy A14 with 12.4 million units in fifth place. Galaxy S23 Ultra, the strongest player in Samsung’s flagship series, entered the list with 9.6 million. Omdia’s predictions about the sector are as follows;

The global smartphone market is experiencing negative growth due to the economic recession and the contraction of the mid-range and low-end market due to the expansion of the second-hand smartphone market. The premium smartphone market, on the other hand, is growing steadily as replacement demand for Apple’s premium models remains strong.

According to Omdia’s forecasts, the sales in the smartphone industry will continue to decline. However, this does not apply to flagship phones. The report says that sales on flagship phones will increase. This shows that the difference between the upper segment and the lower segment will gradually increase.
