The long-awaited web version of Threads has finally arrived. Meta’s move came as no surprise, after its Twitter rival announced earlier this week that it would be available in browsers. Instagram head Adam Mosseri recently confirmed that the web version of Threads is now live for all users.

Threads web output

Threads.net has actually existed since the social platform debuted, but could only be used to view a person’s profile. You couldn’t like or share a post as you couldn’t log in. The new desktop web interface is very similar to the mobile app, with some minor differences; navigation icons are at the top of the page, and there’s a button in the lower left corner to switch between the For You and Following feeds.

But the web experience doesn’t let you do everything you can do in the mobile app. For example, things like editing your profile or sending a post to Instagram DMs cannot be done from the web for now. It is also not possible to quote a thread post for now, but it is stated that this feature will come soon.

While there are missing features, even a basic level of functionality is pretty good for Threads. Accessing Threads from the web can increase app loyalty, given that most employees spend their day at the computer. Because Threads has already lost more than 70 percent of the number of users in the first days. With the new features to be added, Meta aims to improve this situation.
