READING NOW Another disappointment from the iPhone 15: USB-C is coming, but…

There has been a short period of 3 weeks until the release of the iPhone 15, where the emergence of leaks, fake news and real information has not ceased for a long time. Of course, these rumors about the debut are increasing. According to the latest reveal, the device will disappoint us.

iPhone 15 comes with USB-C yes, but it will transfer at USB 2.0 speed…

Almost everyone now agrees that the iPhone 15 should have a USB-C port instead of Lightning. As you know, USB-C has many advantages over Apple’s Lightning connector, such as expanded compatibility, fast charging support and faster data transfer.

However, it is not known exactly how Apple will implement USB-C in the iPhone 15. Earlier this month, a leaker shared images showing the USB-C connectors of the new iPhones. More recently, we’ve seen leaked images of new braided USB-C cables allegedly manufactured by Apple.

These cables appear to be 1.5 meters long and available in multiple colors such as blue, pink, and yellow. Researcher Majin Bu has obtained more details about these cables, and this information may upset some people who are looking forward to the iPhone 15.

According to Majin Bu, the new USB-C cables traced are actually longer than those currently in the iPhone box. The cables are also thicker, which means they’re more durable. However, Majin Bu claims that the leaked cables are USB 2.0 despite having a USB-C connector.

In other words, they are limited to the same data transfer rates as the Lightning connector. More specifically, USB 2.0 can only transmit data at a maximum speed of 480 Mbps. If this is true, the new iPhones will not enable faster data transmission, even though they have a new charging connector.

The iPhone 15 is known to have a Thunderbolt chip in its USB-C system, so Apple may limit Thunderbolt to iPhone 15 Pro models. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as only the iPad Pro supports Thunderbolt. For example, the iPad Air is limited to USB-C 3.1. The iPad 10, on the other hand, has a USB-C connector, but still has a transfer speed to USB 2.0.

A second possibility is that all new iPhone 15 models will support Thunderbolt, but Apple sells Thunderbolt cables separately. Thunderbolt cables are generally more expensive than regular USB-C cables.

Considering Apple’s sales policies to date, it seems like the latter is more likely. What are you thinking? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
