Intel could not achieve the desired success in the market with the graphics card models of the Arc series. However, the update that the company released for an entry-level model attracts attention. Intel stated that it overclocked the Arc A380 graphics card through a driver update.

Intel overclocks cheap graphics card with update

Intel has started experimenting with an interesting method to compete against entry-level models from AMD and Nvidia. The Arc A380, known for its affordable price, received a driver update that gave a performance increase in clock speed.

Many hardware manufacturers prevent overclocking to maintain the stability of entry-level models. Intel took the opposite approach with the A380. With a new driver update, Intel has increased the A380’s base clock speed by 7.5 percent. So he upgraded the graphics card from 2000MHz to 2150MHz.

This overclock seems to almost double the performance of the A380. With a previous update, a performance increase of 19 percent in DirectX 11 games and over 40 percent in DirectX 9 games was achieved.

The company said it will release the new update via BIOS. This allows A380 owners to overclock without doing anything, just by installing the update.

While the 150MHz (or 7.5 percent) overclock is minor, it’s worth noting that Intel supports entry-level Arc models through an update. It should also be noted that the price of the Intel Arc A380 is at the level of $ 120.
