Apple is undoubtedly the biggest name in the smartphone world. So much so that the company appeals to a significant segment. But Apple’s policies in the industry have at times sparked criticism and even investigations. It looks like Apple is cornered this time around.

Apple to pay up to $500 million due to battery limitation

From time to time, news emerged that Apple applies battery restrictions on its aging models. So much so that many users filed a class action lawsuit against the tech giant in 2018 for this reason. Apple will have to pay up to $500 million due to the battery limitation.

The class action lawsuit was filed in 2018. In 2019, the Court rejected Apple’s appeal and the court process began. After years of litigation, Apple will pay a minimum of $310 million and up to $500 million in cash compensation to nearly 100 million iPhone users. According to the court’s report, the Apple battery restriction applied to the iPhone 6, iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 series at that time.

In fact, Apple has been uncomfortable with this situation for a long time. So much so that the company wants to protect battery health with software updates. With the latest beta update, when iPhone models overheat during charging, the phone gives this warning and suspends the charging process to protect the battery. This warning can occur as a result of the phone being under the sun or in a hot place.
