South Korean technology giant Samsung has already switched to the main rear cameras that offer 200 MP resolution on its flagship smartphones. The company uses one of the best cameras on the market today on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This situation is expected to be valid for the Galaxy S24 family as well. However, when we see the second half of next year, it looks like we will be faced with a groundbreaking development regarding Samsung.
According to the statements made by Revegnus, one of the known leak sources, Samsung continues to work on 3 new ISOCELL sensors for the second half of 2024. One of them will offer 50 MP and the other 200 MP resolution. So far everything is normal. But the top-of-the-line camera is the kind that will make us forget everything we know if the allegations are true.
Samsung may be working on a sensor that offers 440 MP resolution!
Allegedly, the last of the camera sensors Samsung is working on is specially designed to offer a full 440 MP resolution. At the moment, we do not have detailed information about this sensor, but it is stated that the sensor will be named “HU1”. If Samsung does not use this sensor on its foldable screen phones, which it will most likely do, we will see this new camera that offers 440 MP resolution on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. When those days come, we may be talking about this being the first in the world.
According to the source of the leak, the new 200 MP sensor will have a pixel size of 0.6 micrometers, while the new 50 MP sensor will have a pixel size of 1.6 micrometers. However, no pixel size data was shared for the sensor, which offers 440 MP resolution. Finally, let’s underline the following; If Samsung’s 440 MP camera sensor is used today, it cannot be used on any smartphone. Because under current conditions, no processor can support such a high resolution camera. When we put all these together, we can say that the smartphone industry is pregnant with a big leap in the coming periods.
