Social network X, formerly known as Twitter, is officially making TweetDeck, or now X Pro, a paid service. This is not a big surprise as the change was originally announced last month and stated that users must be verified to access TweetDeck. Now, when non-verified users want to access X Pro, they are directed to the X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue) payment page.

X Pro (TweetDeck) is paid

On July 3, X had already announced that this feature would become a subscriber-only feature. At the time it was said that the transition would take place “within 30 days”, but the deadline seems to have gotten a little long. Under Elon Musk, X has sought to make X Premium a more attractive subscription with additions such as longer posts, formatting, ad revenue sharing, and higher rankings in conversations and search. Now he also hopes that access to the X Pro is worth paying for a blue checkmark.

TweetDeck was one of the most popular third-party apps for Twitter until the company bought it in 2011. Its ability to support multiple accounts and multiple private streams has made it a powerful tool for journalists, marketers, and others who regularly use Twitter for their daily work. Given this situation, it makes sense to charge TweetDeck and name it Pro. However, having to pay for a useful tool that was previously free is a bit annoying no matter what.
