We’ve been hearing for over a year that the iPhone 15 series will be giving up the Lightning port for the USB-C port. While rumors and news suggest that this change is inevitable, when the iPhone 15 series launches, it may not be the only iPhone with a USB-C port. Apple seems to be preparing two more models for this change.

In the tvOS 17 beta code, revealed by Twitter user @aaronp613, information about six previously unreleased iPhone models was found. Four of them (iPhone15.4, iPhone 15.5, iPhone16.1 and iPhone16.2) point to four iPhone 15 models, while there are two more new iPhones on the list: iPhone14.1 and iPhone14.9.

Both of these iPhones have the A15 Bionic chip and are currently iPhone models with the A15 Bionic chip; iPhone SE 3, all iPhone 13 models and standard iPhone 14 models. However, there may be talk of revised versions for the USB-C port as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will continue to be sold by Apple for the next few years. In other words, iPhone 14 models that will remain on sale may come with USB-C, unlike the current ones.

It should also be noted that Apple has never changed the port of an iPhone that has already been released, but this may be possible since it has been ten years since the company last changed the ports. Also, EU rules force Apple to keep the iPhone 14s on sale.

As the beta tests continue, let’s see if we can get more details about the future iPhone models from tvOS 17 or another operating system…
