Galaxy S24 Ultra camera detailed
It is conceivable that the move from the 10MP camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra to the 50MP camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra will result in an increase in image quality, but the latest information made public by Ice Universe points to more. According to the shared, the 50 MP telephoto camera, which is said to be on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, will have a 1/2.52 inch sensor size. For comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 1/3.52 inch telephoto sensor. So we’re talking about a 40 percent larger sensor than the previous model.
Increasing the physical size of the sensor is often beneficial, as those unfamiliar with cameras will know. Because this way more light can be captured, much less noise and better performance in low light. On the other hand, it should be noted that the individual pixel sizes (1.12µm > 0.7µm) in the telephoto camera of the S24 Ultra will be reduced.
Still, Ice Universe noted that using the camera to capture 5x images using digital zoom will allow the Galaxy S24 Ultra to maintain a higher image quality, and this could be due to the increase in sensor size paired with the 50MP upgrade. However, on the periscope camera side, it is stated that there will be no change in resolution at least and a 10 MP sensor will be used.
