There has been a remarkable development regarding WhatsApp, the world’s most popular instant messaging application. It turned out that a new layer of security will be added to the web beta version of the application. Thanks to this new layer, users will be especially comfortable at work. Let’s take a closer look at the new feature of WhatsApp together.

The new feature detected in the beta version of WhatsApp Web with the code 2.2333.11 brings a screen lock to the application. This feature, in its simplest terms, will require entering a password when opening the WhatsApp screen. If this password is not entered, the WhatsApp screen will not open. Let’s say you have WhatsApp Web session open on the computer you use at work. Without entering the password you set, it will not be possible to access WhatsApp.

This is what WhatsApp’s new feature looks like:

The new security layer, currently only tested by some beta users, will be available in the “Privacy” settings section. When the user enters this section, he will see an option called “Screen Lock”. A password will be required when the option is activated. Once this password is set, it will need to be entered each time the WhatsApp Web page is opened.

With this study, a similar feature of the “Fingerprint lock” feature in the mobile version has reached the web version. At least partially. Screen lock feature for WhatsApp Web will reach all users very soon. Whether the feature will come to the desktop version one day remains unknown for now. Meta will most likely bring the screen lock feature to the desktop version as well.
