Popular messaging app WhatsApp continues to test new features. A new feature that will please users who complain about security is that it has been tested in the beta version. With this feature, a new way of protecting your account such as a traditional password and two-factor authentication is added.

WhatsApp is testing a new layer of security with passkey

A hidden passkey setup menu in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android has surfaced thanks to a report by WABetaInfo. As the screenshot below shows, the passkey feature will provide users with a simple way to log in securely.

A passkey is a short number or string of characters used to verify your identity and acts as a type of security code to ensure that only approved devices can be authenticated. With the feature still in the testing phase, storing the passkeys securely in your Google Password Manager will provide easy access while providing strong protection against unauthorized access.
