Today, 8-core processors are well-standardized, while this number can go up to 16 on the AMD side and 24 on the Intel side in the top models. The number of cores is expected to increase in the next generation processors in the future. On the other hand, according to information that has recently emerged, Intel is planning to launch a dual-core processor called the “Intel 300”.

Dual-core Intel 300 is coming

First of all, the Intel 300 does not fit any of the company’s current nomenclature. On the other hand, this processor is likely to be the new version, upgrade, of the Pentium Gold G7400, which has not been touched in the 13th Generation Core series. On the features side of the processor, it is stated that there will be a 2-core and 4-thread configuration. The two cores mentioned are expected to be based on P-Core, that is, the performance-oriented cores that Intel is currently using in its processors.

Compared to the Pentium Gold G7400, it is also stated that the Intel 300 will increase to a base clock speed of 3.9 GHz instead of 3.7 GHz. The processor will also not have a turbo boost feature. When it comes to Thermal Design Power (TDP), Maximum Turbo Power (MTB) will also not be used in this scenario. Therefore, the TDP will remain constant at 46W, just like with the Pentium Gold G7400. Also, the 6MB L3 cache size remains unchanged. According to the leak, this CPU will be announced this quarter, possibly during the Raptor Lake Refresh update scheduled for next month.
