READING NOW Affordable new Xbox console is coming!

Microsoft unveiled the most up-to-date game consoles, Xbox Series X and S, in 2020. In the 3-year period, it did not go through a major update, except for new color and storage options. A new claim that has emerged shows that the digital version for Xbox Series X is on the way.

Digital version for Xbox Series X in development

According to a new rumor, Microsoft is working on a non-disk drive version for its most powerful console, the Xbox Series X. The Xbox Series X digital edition will follow in the footsteps of Sony’s PlayStation 5 Digital Edition and will likely be more affordable.

New claims from sources close to Microsoft revealed that the discless version of the Xbox Series X is under development. While no details were given, the diskless console will likely be smaller and lighter.

For those who don’t know, disc-less versions of consoles can only be used with games purchased from app stores. These consoles, which do not have a physical partition, are both more affordable and eliminate the need for a partition for the console.

Let me remind you that Microsoft has a diskless version for the Xbox Series S. On the other hand, PlayStation 5, a direct competitor of Series X, also includes a special edition in the form of Digital Edition. This supports the digital version claims for the Series X. However, it should be noted that no release date has been given.

Reports also indicated that Microsoft has “broader Xbox plans” for 2025 and beyond. With Sony launching the PlayStation VR2 next year, it’s possible for Microsoft to turn to the world of virtual or augmented reality.
