Baldur’s Gate 3, released on August 3, has already managed to become one of the biggest games on Steam, raising the concurrent player record. It even upgraded it so much that it even managed to rank among the ten most played games on Steam ever.
The long-awaited sequel, which took a long time to build, broke its own concurrent player record multiple times over the entire weekend. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Steam concurrent player record stands at 814,666 at the time of this writing, placing ninth on SteamDB’s highest-ever concurrent player list, pushing Apex Legends out of the top ten to number eleven.
This means that in just three days, Baldur’s Gate 3 had more concurrent players (that is, players who were all logged in and actively in the game at the same time as the record was broken) than games like Valheim, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Destiny 2.
Even more surprising, Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently the second most-played game on Steam in the last 24 hours, having even more concurrent players than Dota 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds this weekend. Of all the games on Steam, only CS:GO had more concurrent players in the last 24 hours.
With its enormous size, Baldur’s Gate 3, which can easily take more than 80 hours of your time, seems to be ready to take its place among the best RPGs already.
