There are claims made from reliable sources about the iPhone 15 series, which has appeared as September 13, in the past days. The base iPhone models are still stuck at 12MP resolution. This year, however, things are changing in that respect. In addition, Apple will try a technology that it will apply for the first time on this phone. iPhone 15 camera will be better than Pro models!

Kuo: The basic iPhone 15 camera will be better than the Pro models!

We mentioned that the basic models of the iPhone do not stop using 12MP resolution. This year, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are said to feature 48MP main sensors. Interestingly, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that this new sensor will be better than the one found on the iPhone 15 Pro pair. Will this be better than the iPhone 15 camera Pro models? raises the question.

If you remember, the current expectations for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max were that they will continue to use the same sensor they used last year (Sony IMX803). However, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus duo will earn the title of being the first phones to feature Sony’s new stacked image sensor design. “Stacked” means that the photodiode and transistor are in two separate layers for each pixel.

In normal sensors used in phones, the photodiode and transistor are placed side by side. This leaves less room for both the photodiode and the transistor. Vivo, which will use the Sony Lytia LYT800 sensor for the upcoming X100 series, says that the 1/1.43” LYT800 performs similarly to the 1” sensor with the traditional design.

According to the timeline created by analyst Kuo, the Pro models, namely the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, will receive the stacked sensors we mentioned next year. In other words, these sensors will not be used on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Of course, Apple can differentiate its cameras in other ways, such as sensor size, type of image stabilization. It is necessary to wait for the presentation to see the results of all these questions and claims. The answers will emerge when the series is unveiled on September 13.
