Creating AI charter for media:

In the announcement, Reporters Without Borders announced that an international committee has been formed to work on the “Artificial Intelligence in the Media Regulation” together with its partners. In the announcement text, the danger of artificial intelligence for the industry was emphasized:

“The rapid spread of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media industry poses a major threat to information integrity. In response to this unprecedented challenge, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and its partners are forming an international committee to develop a charter aimed at regulating the use of AI in the media.”

The committee will be headed by a Nobel laureate:

This committee, which will create the infrastructure for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the media, will be chaired by Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa. The committee will have 21 members from 13 different countries. These are names with academic and professional experience in the fields of journalism, artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

The full purpose of the committee is to:

“The committee’s role is to develop a set of principles, rights and obligations for information professionals regarding the use of AI-based systems.”
