WhatsApp will ask for verification by email
WhatsApp will soon ask for your email address to protect and verify your account. However, there is no clear information on how this feature will work yet. It is not clear whether there will be a solution to the “verification code not coming” problem in WhatsApp, the option to login to WhatsApp with email, or just an additional layer for account security. Note that this feature is different from the feature that requires adding an e-mail address when setting up two-step verification.
The new security feature can be useful when installing WhatsApp on a new device when the verification code is not received due to server or network problems. Email verification option appeared in WhatsApp Android beta version (v2.23.16.15). Since the feature is still in development, it’s unlikely to be available to everyone anytime soon.
