Nintendo posted its highest-ever first-quarter profit after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and The Super Mario movie. According to the company’s most recent earnings report, the company earned 185.44 billion yen ($1.3 billion) on sales of 461.34 billion yen ($3.2 billion), beating the quarterly crown of 144.7 billion recorded in 2020.

Mario and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom break records

It should be noted that Nintendo has achieved significant success with both brands. Reportedly, The Super Mario Bros. It was watched by 168.10 million people worldwide and brought the company $1.349 billion as of July 26. This figure marks a new record in the category of video game adaptations and animated films.

Also, the recently released The Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sold 18.51 million copies since its release in May. Nintendo says that figure accounts for about half of first-party game sales sold in the current fiscal year.

As for Nintendo Switch, sales reached 3.91 million in the last quarter compared to 3.43 million units last year. Of that, 2.83 million were the more expensive OLED model. At the beginning of this Fiscal year, Nintendo had set Switch estimates at 15 million. Although this figure has not been reached yet, we see that the rumors about Switch 2 are starting to gain momentum. However, these leaks are yet to be confirmed.
