Genesis Digital Assets has launched three new data centers for Bitcoin mining in western South Carolina. With this move, the company started to contribute 2 percent to the total hash rate of the United States’ Bitcoin network. At the same time, the GDA plans to use renewable energy sources located in South Carolina to power its new data centers. Dry-type distribution transformers will be used at a facility near Anderson, with a total capacity of 18 MW. Another facility near Pacolet will use hydroelectric power.
In his statement, GDA CEO Andrey Kim stated that these new data centers are in line with his commitment to expand into clean energy sources, emphasizing that the aim is to become an industry leader and show the world that Bitcoin mining can be environmentally friendly.
GDA is a large-scale crypto mining company with 20 mining farms in North America, Europe and Central Asia, with total power capacity exceeding 400 MW.
